Side income, locked in place
Lock in a weekly limit
Deciding your maximum side-work hours before work arrives keeps busy weeks from taking over.
When a side job goes well, more work tends to arrive. Without a limit set in advance, it fills every evening.
Set the number first
Choose a maximum number of hours a week while things are calm. Write it down where you will see it.
Use it to say no
- When a new request would go past the limit, offer a later date instead.
- If requests keep exceeding it, raise your price before raising your hours.
Review monthly
Once a month, compare hours worked with the limit. If you went over, look for the cause: underpricing, unclear tasks, or a client who keeps adding requests.
